Safe Sport at Lighthouse Point Yacht Club

At LHPYC, the safety and protection of every swimmer is our highest priority. By working together—coaches, swimmers, parents, and volunteers—we create a safe, supportive, and positive environment both in and out of the pool.

Safe Sport Programming & MAAPP

Lighthouse Point Yacht Club Swim Team is proud to fully support and implement USA Swimming’s Safe Sport Program, which is designed to protect all members of the swimming community by promoting respect, accountability, and well-being for every athlete.

What is Safe Sport?

Safe Sport is USA Swimming’s comprehensive athlete protection program. It provides training, policies, and resources to help clubs recognize, prevent, and respond to inappropriate behavior. It also educates athletes, coaches, parents, and volunteers on how to create a safe and respectful environment in and out of the water.

What is MAAPP?

The Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policy (MAAPP) is a required set of guidelines from USA Swimming that governs interactions between minor athletes and adults. All LHPYC coaches, swimmers, and families are expected to follow MAAPP at all times. These rules include policies around communication, travel, locker room use, and other areas where boundaries are essential for athlete safety.
